About
Welcome to Tangerine Turtle- where it’s never too late to be what you might have been…
Thanks so much for stopping by! If you’re wondering who I am, why this site is called Tangerine Turtle and many other things, this is where you’ll find the answers.
As a result of my life experiences, I believe every one of us is a work in progress and it’s never too late to be who you’ve always wanted to be. It is my passion and my pleasure to touch everyone’s life in some positive way to help them discover their own passions and potential. I believe that I was given a second chance at life to share my knowledge and skills to help others. It is my goal that every single person who I meet will be inspired in some way to be find their dreams, follow them, and make them a reality.
Tangerine Turtle is my third blog. I started out blogging as a way to share my family’s life with friends and family who were thousands of miles away from us. I realized I loved it and now write as my *job*. I chose the turtle as part of my logo for several reasons…it is a personal joke from my high school days when I would wear turtlenecks all the time, even with shorts…(it was the 80′s, what can I say?) The other reason is because it fits with my life motto- “It’s never too late to be what you might have been.” ~ George Eliot. You might remember the story of The Hare and the Tortoise, where the slow, steady tortoise wins the race. This is also what this site is about. Achieving your goals and dreams by taking small, steady steps. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, you’ll get there!
When I was planning this blog, I was brainstorming with one of my lifelong friends. I was telling her that I needed to come up with a name and what the blog was all about. I wanted something to go along with the Turtle…something catchy, but also something with meaning. I knew that there would be colours to brand the site with so it would be nice to tie it all together. We came up with several options and when I said ‘tangerine’, we both agreed that it sounded good together…‘Tangerine Turtle’…but when she told me the attributes that the colour tangerine represented, I knew it was ‘the one’.
Creativity. Enthusiasm. Confidence. Comfort. Joy.
This is a place where you can dream BIG dreams and watch them come true one by one.
Inside you’ll find motivation, inspiration, recipes and a whole bunch of amazing people just like you. Professionals, parents, creative types, high flyers…there’s something for everyone. We are all human beings helping each other be our best selves.
So settle into a comfy chair, enjoy a steaming mug of your favourite drink and have a look around.
I’m so glad you’re here

A Little Bit More About Me
- She’s a Writer
I have always loved reading and writing. As a child you would often find me with my nose in a book or scribbling stories of my own. I have been blogging since 2006 and loving every minute of it! - She Loves Helping People
In college I studied psychology and English and afterwards spent several years working in psychiatric hospitals helping people of all ages with serious mental illnesses, family and relationship problems and addictions. I am now a personal coach, helping people to achieve their goals and reach their personal potential. - She’s a People-Person
Meeting interesting people and getting to know them has always been a big part of my life. In college I became a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Women’s Fraternity and still enjoy the bonds of sisterhood today. I love meeting people through Facebook and Twitter, and of course, through the comments here
- She’s Not Afraid to Take a Risk
In 1997, having never lived anywhere but in Maryland, I followed my heart and moved to England to be with the man whom I thought was my prince. It turned out that he was a frog and I found myself on my own 3000 miles away from home and my friends and family. In the same week that the frog left the palace, I was diagnosed with cancer and was given two years to live. I have always been good at researching things, so I researched all about cancer and treatment options and in the end, chose to switch to a mainly vegan diet which was proven to help with healing and also focused on my relationship with God. God answered back through the prayers of thousands of people all over the world, and only 18 months after my diagnosis, I was miraculously healed of every bit of the cancer. I have been cancer-free ever since (although I haven’t followed a vegan diet for the last few years). - She’s Tenacious
Twice proving the doctors wrong; first when I was born and they said that they couldn’t save both my mother and me, (we’re both still around!) and the second time beating cancer as an adult.
- She’s a Winner
In 2000, at a Christian conference where we were both working as volunteers, I met the man who really WAS my prince. We got married in London in 2003 and a year later, had our first princess. In 2006 and 2007 we had two more princesses and the whole family has been living happily-ever-after ever since. - She’s a Family-Girl
After the princesses were born, my husband and I decided that I would stay at home to look after them. It was a rocky process at times, but I stuck with it and am now enjoying being a work-at-home-parent. I believe firmly that ALL PARENTS ARE WORKING PARENTS- some of them just don’t get paid or recognized for it. My family comes first and like most of us, I wear many different hats, (sometimes at the same time -which can be an interesting fashion statement). I’m a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and Orthodox Christian. I love anything creative and when I have ‘time’ *cough*, I love painting, sculpting and making crafts. I also LOVE 80′s music, John Hughes’ movies, sparkly jewelery and cooking (but hate cleaning up). - She’s So Much More
