How I Transformed a Cramped Office Into a Beautiful Work Space For Less Than £50

Repurposed-Writer's-Office

Sorry I've been away for a while. I've been a busy bee! A lot of things have happened since my last post: The girls participated in their first dance recital and I was a parent volunteer. (An amazing time was had by all.) My daughter received a Headmaster's Award and school ended for the year for both girls. I went to London for a Christmas in July press event hosted by UKMums.tv and got to try out all the latest toys for this season. I attended VTech's UK Product Launch of the Innotab, tablet for kids. We visited our family for a week and spent some great time with grandparents and great-grandparents. I got bit by the Re-purposing Bug! As you know, I love organizing.  And I DEFINITELY have an obsession with containers and stationary! Unfortunately, with the times ... [Click Here to Continue Reading]

How I Got My Mo-Jo Back with 22 Hairbands and 30 Handbags

big_hairband-solution

Over the last few weeks I have been setting up a brand new gluten-free project with a good friend of mine. This has meant that I have been working flat-out and probably far too much.  (I'm pretty sure getting to bed at 2am for weeks is a baaaaad thing...) As you might imagine, other parts of my life have taken a back seat and this weekend, I was feeling a bit worse for wear. OK, I'll confess, I was totally feeling sorry for myself. This weekend was one of the biggest blogging conferences in London and lots of wonderful new friends that I've made were tweeting all about it as it was happening. To say that I wanted to be there with them would be no small understatement. I started having the blogging equivalent of a 2-yr-old-tantrum. I started telling myself all sorts of crazy things, ... Organizing Challenge (September)

Organizing Challenge

This month's organizing challenge is based on the TV programme- Gutted (shown on the 'Home' channel in the UK) I have not actually watched this programme yet, but I can tell I might get hooked...a show about de-cluttering? What are the odds? :) Anyway...on the show, the team goes to the home of a person/family that needs de-cluttering and completely empties their house of ALL possessions. They then ask the owners to make a list of what was in their house and anything on the list will be returned to them and anything not on the list will be sold. I thought this was really thought-provoking. How much 'stuff' do many of us have? The more we have, the more things lose their value. If we actually sat and thought about what we have and whether we actually need it or if it is adding ... [Click Here to Continue Reading]

The 20 Minute Blitz

Organizing Challenge

How much re-organizing can you actually do in 10 minutes? 20 minutes? A couple of days ago, in my back to school organizing frenzy, I set my timer for 10 minutes and started on this little corner of my office. It had been nagging at me for months but I kept looking away, hoping that if I didn't see it, it wasn't actually there. (No prizes for guessing that that particular strategy didn't really work.) Anyway, I realized when the timer got to 5 minutes that I was going to need more time, so I set it again. This was mainly because there were another two shelves that needed to be sorted because things from this corner needed to go there. In the end, it took 20 minutes, but hey...this corner has been in the 'before' state for a few months now...so I am reminded that so frequently, it ... [Click Here to Continue Reading]

Family Organizers

Family Organizer

School started today and I have been busy preparing. Last week I finally took a few days and put together my Family Organizer. This is a notebook filled with all kinds of good information we need to help us live a more peaceful, less stressed lifestyle. I found a project notebook at a local stationary shop which had 5 section dividers and looseleaf paper already included. The front has a plastic sleeve for the project title page. I chose a scrapbooking paper from a craft shop for my cover. I chose this paper because it has many words which describe what we are trying to accomplish by organizing our family including: peace, good fortune, harmony, beauty and happiness. You can personalise your own organizer using any type of folder or cover that inspires and speaks to you. The 'FO' ... [Click Here to Continue Reading]
