How Our Family Celebrated Earth Hour 2011

EH_60_LOGO_JPEG_SMALL

Have you ever heard of Earth Hour? From its inception as a single-city initiative -- Sydney, Australia - in 2007, Earth Hour has grown into a global symbol of hope and movement for change. Earth Hour 2010 created history as the world's largest ever voluntary action with people, businesses and governments in 128 countries across every continent coming together to celebrate an unambiguous commitment to the one thing that unites us all -- the planet. ~from the Official Earth Hour YouTube channel Earth Hour at Our House This year, we very nearly 'forgot' all about Earth Hour. I love planning for them, packing for them, travelling to my destination and of course, relaxing when I get there! I would hate to have to give them ... [Click Here to Continue Reading]

Earth Hour 2009

earth hour 09

It is currently 9.02 pm and we are participating in Earth Hour 2009 in our house. For those of you who don't know what I am talking about...Earth Hour is a global movement to vote against global warming. At 8.30 pm local time, you are asked to turn your lights off for one hour. Those who have participated and signed up with the website www.earthhour.org will be counted as votes and these will be taken to the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009. Originally I felt compelled to join in based solely on the cause. Saving energy even for one hour all around the world has to be a good thing whether you 'believe' in global warming or not (I know it's a contentious subject for many.) However the exercise has yielded much more than just saving a few pennies on electricity or ... [Click Here to Continue Reading]
