Whether you want to be more productive at work, manage your home better or work on the relationships in your life; I will help you through my blog posts, videos, podcasts, ebooks and online and in-person workshops . I’ll also share my own journey as a work-at-home business woman and all-the-time mum, because just like you, I’m constantly learning and working to be the best that I can be.
Writer/Blogger
I have always loved reading and writing. As a child you would often find me with my nose in a book or scribbling stories of my own. I have been blogging since 2006 as a way to share my family’s life with friends and family who were thousands of miles away from us. I realised how much I loved it and a new career was born. I have written for:
- problogger.net
- blissfullydomestic.com
- divinecaroline.com
- budgetblonde.com
- HuffingtonPostUK
- untrainedhousewife.com
Personal Coach
In college I studied psychology and English and afterwards spent several years working in psychiatric hospitals helping people of all ages with serious mental illnesses, family and relationship problems and addictions. I am now a Personal Coach, helping people to achieve their goals and reach their personal potential. I specialise in:
- Personal Productivity
- Family and Home Management
- Organising
Workshops/Training
I provide bespoke workshops and training for individuals or groups of any size and have developed the following ready-made programmes:

Speaker
In 1997, having never lived anywhere but in Maryland, I followed my heart and moved to England to be with the man whom I thought was my prince. It turned out that he was a frog and I found myself on my own 3000 miles away from home and my friends and family. In the same week that the frog left the palace, I was diagnosed with cancer and was given two years to live. I’m a bit of a research-hound, so I found out all about cancer and treatment options and in the end, chose to switch to a mainly vegan diet which was proven to help with healing and also focused on my relationship with God. God answered back through the prayers of thousands of people all over the world, and only 18 months after my diagnosis, I was miraculously healed of every bit of the cancer. I have been cancer-free ever since (although I haven’t followed a vegan diet for the last few years). Many people have been inspired by my story and I am available as a speaker for groups big or small.
My ‘Other’ Full-time Job
My husband and I live in England with our three daughters. As a family we decided that I would stay at home to look after them. It has been a rocky process at times, but I’ve stuck with it and am now enjoying being a work-at-home-parent. I believe firmly that ALL PARENTS ARE WORKING PARENTS- some of them just don’t get paid or recognized for it. My family comes first and like most of us, I wear many different hats, (sometimes at the same time -which can be an interesting fashion statement). I’m a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and Orthodox Christian. I’m hooked on finding and trying frugal ways to make your home more beautiful and especially love re-purposing projects. I’m an amateur foodie, bookworm, photography buff and generally anything creative makes me happy. I also LOVE 80′s music, John Hughes’ movies, sparkly jewellery and cooking (but hate cleaning up). Oh, and by the way, I’m a bit of a social media nut and would love to hear from you on Twitter: @magzparmenter or on Facebook.
If you want to learn even more interesting things about me, read my reverse bucket list- 50 Fab Things.
As a result of my life experiences, I believe every one of us is a work in progress and it’s never too late to be who you’ve always wanted to be. It is my passion and my pleasure to touch everyone’s life in some positive way to help them discover their own passions and potential. I believe that I was given a second chance at life to share my knowledge and skills to help others. It is my goal that every single person who I meet will be inspired in some way to be find their dreams, follow them, and make them a reality.
Why the Tangerine Turtle?
I chose the turtle as part of my logo for several reasons…it is a personal joke from my high school days when I would wear turtlenecks all the time, even with shorts…(it was the 80′s, what can I say?) The other reason is because it fits with my life motto- “It’s never too late to be what you might have been.” ~ George Eliot. You might remember the story of The Hare and the Tortoise, where the slow, steady tortoise wins the race. This is also what this site is about. Achieving your goals and dreams by taking small, steady steps. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, you’ll get there!
When I was planning this blog, I was brainstorming with one of my lifelong friends. I was telling her that I needed to come up with a name and what the blog was all about. I wanted something to go along with the Turtle…something catchy, but also something with meaning. I knew that there would be colours to brand the site with so it would be nice to tie it all together. We came up with several options and when I said ‘tangerine’, we both agreed that it sounded good together…‘Tangerine Turtle’…but when she told me the attributes that the colour tangerine represented, I knew it was ‘the one’.
Creativity. Enthusiasm. Confidence. Comfort. Joy.
This is a place where you can dream BIG dreams and watch them come true one by one.
Inside you’ll find motivation, inspiration, recipes and a whole bunch of amazing people just like you. Professionals, parents, creative types, high flyers…there’s something for everyone. We are all human beings helping each other be our best selves.
So settle into a comfy chair, enjoy a steaming mug of your favourite drink and have a look around.
I’m so glad you’re here
