My First Blog Post- RIP Rob

stones-of-the-past

Sometimes, it's just good to look back and see how far you've come. This is my first ever blogpost. It was written on April 23, 2006 three blogs ago. The photo was taken last year. Well, my first official blogpost is a serious one. It's something I have been thinking about for a few days now... Last week I went to my old high school's website to see what people had been up to. It promptly told me that our 20 year reunion was being planned and could I please go to another site (classreport.com) and update my details and take a survery about the reunion. This I did and filled out all the yada yada about what had been going on in my life these past 20 years. I then started browsing the years before and after mine and when I was looking at the Class of 1986, I commented to dear hubby ... [Click Here to Continue Reading]

Just a super-quick update to say that I've been away for the last few weeks because my mom has been visiting from the States and we've been spending time with her. Sad to say she left today, but on a positive note...I will be back to writing and adding a lot of fun new things to Tangerine Turtle beginning this week. I've missed you all and am looking forward to getting back in the swing of things! Thanks for your patience and understanding! Peace and love, ... [Click Here to Continue Reading]

Yummy Weekday Breakfast Ideas (Hold the Cereal, Please)- Breakfast Wrap

Breakfast Wrap

Day 5 Thanks for joining me this week! Today is the last day of our breakfast experiment and I think it went pretty well. The kids enjoyed taking part in 'an experiment' and all the foods we tried were a success in varying degrees. Yesterday we had Egg and Bacon Hash which had its issues, but tasted great. Today, for our final non-cereal breakfast of the week, we had a dish that is so versatile, there is no one recipe. It's the Breakfast wrap. Breakfast Wrap Any tortilla wrap (white wheat, whole wheat, corn etc.) The fillings of your choice: (this is where you can really use your imagination) egg egg, cheese and bacon egg and sausage sausage and cheese cream cheese and smoked salmon peanut butter and bananas egg, bacon and avocado mozzarella and tomato beans and ... Yummy Weekday Breakfast Ideas (Hold the Cereal, Please)- Egg and Bacon Hash

egg and bacon hash

Day 4 Wow, we're nearly through our week long breakfast experiment. It's going well and so far, there haven't been any real 'flops' or disasters. Yesterday we had the super-special Overnight Baked French Toast and there was not a complaint within ten miles of our kitchen. Today we tried out Egg and Bacon Hash.  This dish probably took the most prep out of all the breakfasts this week but it sure did taste good and it was nice to start out the day with the feeling of having a really good meal in your belly. Egg and Bacon Hash 1 medium onion 4-6 medium/large potatoes, cubed 240g thick sliced back bacon 1 tbsp oil 5 large eggs salt and pepper, to taste The Night Before Cut bacon into small pieces. Chop onions. Cut potatoes into cubes and boil.  Drain and cool. Place ... [Click Here to Continue Reading]

Yummy Weekday Breakfast Ideas (Hold the Cereal, Please)- Overnight Baked French Toast

baked french toast

Day 3 Hi everyone! We're doing well with our no-cereal-breakfast-experiment week. Yesterday we had Cheese on Toast which all the kids really enjoyed. I thought since it's Wednesday and it's the middle of the week, and we all need a little pick-me-up, I'd treat everyone with a little something special. So, this morning we had Overnight Baked French Toast. No, the french toast is not baked overnight. Although, I think I have come across slow-cooker french toast in my travels...but that's an experiment for another day. THIS overnight french toast is assembled the night before and sits in the fridge until the morning when you bake it and wake your family up with the wafting smells of cinnamon and brown sugar. Mmmm..... Overnight Baked French Toast Recipe adapted from Mommy's Kitchen 1/2 ... [Click Here to Continue Reading]
