Yummy Weekday Breakfast Ideas (Hold the Cereal, Please)- Breakfast Wrap
Day 5
Thanks for joining me this week!
Today is the last day of our breakfast experiment and I think it went pretty well. The kids enjoyed taking part in ‘an experiment’ and all the foods we tried were a success in varying degrees. Yesterday we had Egg and Bacon Hash which had its issues, but tasted great. Today, for our final non-cereal breakfast of the week, we had a dish that is so versatile, there is no one recipe. It’s the Breakfast wrap.
Breakfast Wrap
Any tortilla wrap (white wheat, whole wheat, corn etc.)
The fillings of your choice: (this is where you can really use your imagination)
egg
egg, cheese and bacon
egg and sausage
sausage and cheese
cream cheese and smoked salmon
peanut butter and bananas
egg, bacon and avocado
mozzarella and tomato
beans and salad
(You get the idea…fill it with WHATEVER YOU LIKE!)
Serve with your favourite condiments
The Verdict: Winner
There really was no possibility of this being a loser since it can be completely personalized by each person. You can use whatever you have in the house, leftovers from previous dinners or buy special ‘breakfast’ ingredients. We used whole wheat tortillas this morning to get a little extra fiber in and the girls decided they were having variations of egg, sausage and cheese. This breakfast is great if you have kids because it gets them involved in the planning process which significantly increases their chances of liking it and eating it without a fuss. Even if your kids aren’t particularly fussy, they will enjoy being ‘grown-up’ and making decisions about their food. This is also a nice way to introduce new flavours. They might like something that they would otherwise be unwilling to try because it’s hidden in the wrap! *wink* (I know, sneaky, sneaky…but whatever works, right?)
In any case, I have really enjoyed sharing our week with you. I hope that I’ve given you some ideas for weekday breakfast foods to try and would love to hear about what sorts of non-cereal breakfasts you have at your house.
Thanks for stopping by!
